So, when we go about our daily routines of this life how can we be effectively contagious? How can we get people to hear what we are saying? How can we get them to listen?
First, we must listen to what others are talking about and what they are struggling with. What are the issues that are going on in their life right now? When we become better listeners, we will then be able to truly help people. You may be thinking, what if I don’t bring the message in a way that they understand? Sometimes they may not get it or receive it. Maybe it’s a lesson we must learn at that point.
Secondly, we need to be led in all we do by the Holy Spirit. When we are led by the Holy Spirit, we will be effective at being that infectious light God has called us to be. Let’s look at a few scriptures that focus on this.
1 Cor. 7:17 Nevertheless, each person should live as a believer in whatever situation the Lord has assigned to them, just as God has called them. This is the rule I lay down in all the churches.
So, this verse says we are all called in every situation and place to proclaim what God has called us to be. So how can we be that light people want?
1 Peter 1:15-16 15 But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; 16 for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.”[a]
When we live out God’s word in our life, God’s word will be what they hear and see. God’s word never returns void.
Isaiah 55:10-13 10 As the rain and the snow
come down from heaven,
and do not return to it
without watering the earth
and making it bud and flourish,
so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater,
11 so is my word that goes out from my mouth:
It will not return to me empty,
but will accomplish what I desire
and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.
12 You will go out in joy
and be led forth in peace;
the mountains and hills
will burst into song before you,
and all the trees of the field
will clap their hands.
13 Instead of the thornbush will grow the juniper,
and instead of briers the myrtle will grow.
This will be for the Lord’s renown,
for an everlasting sign,
that will endure forever.”
Think about how effective you can be! Go out in Joy! Let our words and actions be from the Word of God and they will not return void!
When we constantly dwell in the place God has called us to, we can be that light of influence and hope that people see because God is working through us. Ask God for boldness in all we do. All we must do is follow God all the time and He will be what people see in us. They will start asking questions and God will lead us with the answers we need.
The Holy Spirit will be the One that calls and influences people to come closer. The Holy Spirit makes us contagious because the message inside of us is what they will see. So as far as being infectious, don’t worry about it. God has got you covered. Just do what He has for you and seek him with your whole heart and being. Your influence on people will come.
