You know or maybe you don’t know about going to church, doing great when your there, but as soon as the next day rolls around, Bam!! back to the same things you were doing. We should not be living like this if we are a Christian. When we pray for people at church and sing songs of praise declaring the word of God over things and even say verses throughout our Sunday and Wednesday services but when we leave, that other guy is the one in control for the rest of the week. We claim things when we are in the church building but then do the opposite when we leave.
It’s not what we do inside of the church building but outside of it that has the biggest impact on people. You are the one that is going to be effective in your circle of influence enough that people would want to have a relationship with God. We can either share our life led by the Holy Spirit or else it’s just our weaknesses we share with them.
Leading this double life or being double minded may be a better way of saying it. A double-minded person is always going to be confused because he is always fighting against himself in all he does, never being able to use all his energy and motivation for good. There will be Constant chaos because being our old self is completely opposite of what God has for us. Our minds are constantly fighting with good and bad things about what we should do versus what we do. Our own hearts lie to us and are deceitful.
Double-minded comes from the Greek word dipsuchos “meaning a person with 2 minds or 2 souls”
James 1: 5 If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. 6 But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. 7 That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. 8 Such a person is double-minded and unstable in all they do.
Matthew 6:20 But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
22 “The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are healthy, [a] your whole body will be full of light. 23 But if your eyes are unhealthy, [b] your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light within you is darkness, how great is that darkness! 24 “No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.
James 3:3 When we put bits into the mouths of horses to make them obey us, we can turn the whole animal. 4 Or take ships as an example. Although they are so large and are driven by strong winds, they are steered by a very small rudder wherever the pilot wants to go. 5 Likewise, the tongue is a small part of the body, but it makes great boasts. Consider what a great forest is set on fire by a small spark. 6 The tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body. It corrupts the whole body, sets the whole course of one’s life on fire, and is itself set on fire by hell.
James 4:8 Come near to God, and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. Living a double life, you don’t have the faith you need to succeed. Faith is what brings us to the right thinking with the right mind and pure heart. 17 Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ.
Luke 11:9 “So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. 10 For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. 11 “Which of you fathers, if your son asks for[a] a fish, will give him a snake instead? 12 Or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? So, our Father in Heaven if we ask will give us a pure Heart!
Faith and building our faith is what gives us that solid foundation and our old self is not fed anymore. Hebrews 11: 6 And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.
I know for sure I want that reward in my life! Read Chapter 11 of Hebrews and you will find men of faith. Hebrews12: 1 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.
Run the race God has set out before you! So, we should build up our Faith so we can be of strong mind never staying to the left or the right but staying focused on Jesus Christ our perfector of our faith! When we leave our place of worship and forget everything we have read and heard and said we are like the one who looks in the mirror and forgets what he looks like. If we constantly train ourselves to read, speak and pray and sing the word we will be changed into what God wants us to be.
We need to live by the word of God and focus on receiving from the Holy Spirit. We do not have to live like the rest of the world. We have the power of the Holy Spirit in us if we have had the Romans 10:9-10 experience. 9 If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved .
So are you doubting what Jesus has done on the cross? Come on People! Gods word never changes and His plan for our lives does not change He wants to reach us and reach people through us being a vessel that the Holy Spirit can work through.
Do you do everything the world does? Ask yourself that. Brothers and sisters this should not be so. Praising and cursing coming from the same mouth? Can both salt water and fresh water come from the same spring?
We should be focused on the truth and that truth that never changes is the word of God. I want wisdom that will be of sound mind from Heaven! James 3: 17-18 is what I want my heart to be. We should pray Duet. 30:6 6 The Lord your God will circumcise your hearts and the hearts of your descendants, so that you may love him with all your heart and with all your soul, and live. Love him with all your heart and Live! Looking back on my life I want to remember those I have talked with and helped because of God and led to Christ knowing that they will someday be in heaven!
What is it you can help people with? Be the blessing that God has called you to be. It always starts with one step in the right direction. Asking Jesus into your heart would be a great first step, reading the word would be another great step, helping someone out would be a good step. Whatever the first step is ask God to be the leader of your life and follow in the steps he has already made for you.
I hope you all have had a great week and pray this has reminded you who you are called to be or for the first time you know there is a God that calls you to a greater life led by following His word and Him, Jesus! God bless ya’ll
