God Is Listening
Psalm 116:1–2 “I love the LORD, because he hath heard my voice and my supplications. Because he hath inclined his ear unto me, therefore will I call upon him as long as I live.”
There is something comforting about knowing that someone is listening. Isn’t there? I mean just to know that someone has heard you? Sometimes we may feel that our circumstances have changed. Our bodies may not work like they once did. We may not be able to go where we used to go or do everything we once did.
But there is one thing that has not changed: God is still listening. Psalm 116 says, “He hath heard my voice.” What a wonderful promise! When we pray, we aren't talking to someone who is far away and doesn't care. We are talking to our heavenly Father who bends His ear toward us.
And remember, that is always. It always has been, it is, and always will be… Remember Hebrews 13:8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.
You can talk to God anywhere. You don't have to be in a church building to pray. You can pray from your room. You can pray sitting in a chair. You can pray lying in bed. You can pray with your eyes open or closed. You can pray silently when you don't have the strength to speak. God hears the prayer of His children wherever they are.
Jeremiah 33:3 says: “Call unto me, and I will answer thee.”
Prayer doesn't require fancy words. Sometimes the simplest prayer is the most meaningful: “Jesus, help me.” “Lord, give me peace.” “Thank You for today.” “Be with my family.” “Give me strength.” God hears those prayers. He’s your friend, just talk to Him.. Like the disciples did with Jesus!
You can bring everything to God. Sometimes we think we should only pray about important things. But God cares about the things that concern us. If you're lonely, tell Him. If you're worried, tell Him. If you're thankful, tell Him. If you're thinking about someone you love, tell Him. If you're hurting, tell Him.
1 Peter 5:7 says: “Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.”
Notice those last words: “He careth for you.” God isn't just interested in what we do. He cares about us.
Prayer reminds us that we are never alone. There may be moments when the room feels quiet or when family members aren't nearby. But the presence of God is never far away. Jesus said in Matthew 28:20: “Lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world.”
That means God is with you today. He was with you yesterday. He will be with you tomorrow. And He will be with you every step of the way. So today, don't worry about finding the perfect words. Just talk to Jesus.
Tell Him what's on your heart.
Thank Him for the day. Ask Him for peace.
Ask Him to bless your family.
And remember: God hears you. God cares about you. And God is with you.
“Lord Jesus, thank You that we can talk to You anytime and anywhere. Thank You that You hear our prayers and that You care about every concern we carry. Bring peace to every heart today. Comfort those who are lonely, strengthen those who are hurting, and bless families and strengthen them. Help us remember that we are never alone because You are always with us. In Jesus' name, Amen.”
