How we walk in our daily life will determine if we are staying in step with God or if we have turned direction. We could quite possibly be walking away from God not even realizing it.
Let’s look at scripture and see what it has to say.
Being led by the Holy Spirit will keep us in right step with God because God is God the Father , the Son Jesus, and the Holy Spirit three working always in perfect unity.
In Galatians 5:25 it says this:
25 If we live by the Spirit, let us also keep in step with the Spirit.
If we live by the things of the Holy Spirit, we will then be in Step with our God.
God wants to use us in many ways, and the results are the fruit which comes from the Holy Spirit.
Back up a couple verses and what does it say the fruits of the Spirit are? Galatians 5:22-23 give us that.
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.
God is our perfect demonstration of Love by sending his son Jesus to die for us.
All these attributes come from God so if we are walking in step with him we will have these fruits being evident in our own lives.
Being in our Lord’s presence will gain us steps that bring us closer to him. This requires the most valuable thing we have in our lives which is TIME. We must spend time with God to stay in step with what he would have us do. Our day-to-day hour by hour lives should always include time in God’s Word, Prayer, and then doing what we have learned. It is important to not just to know what we are supposed to do but to do it and carrying it out it takes action.
Walk with God.
Staying in step with God means we must move. Walking requires us to move. If God has shown you something through the Word, then do it. This should be an honor that God is sharing His light, His words, and His time with you. He desires to walk with us. Shouldn’t our goal be to stay in step with him?
Next time you are with God ask him. If you are struggling with your health, your wealth, direction of your life, or if you are struggling with dependency of drugs or alcohol or anger or whatever it is ask the Lord to walk with you through it and lead you to the scriptures that will speak to your heart.
John 7:7-8
7 “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened.
Spending time with God and following His commands will have you in step with God the way He intends for us to live. Live according to the word. Get together with likeminded believers and see where God will take you in this life. Start living and start moving.
Staying in Step with God means we must move and take the step to stay in step.
Live out the rest of your life desiring the fruits of the Spirit to be your everyday actions.
