Shelter and Rest

I’m sure most of you would agree, life is not always easy! Pain, rejection, fear, loss, uncertainty, stress…all these things come up in our lives and try to wear us down. Often, we will look for something that will temporarily take our minds off of things or numb the pain. Whether it’s alcohol, drugs, sex, or any other misuse/overuse; it might help us feel good or have fun for a little while, but it doesn’t truly take away that pain or loss.

The great news is there is One that can!  Not only does Jesus know your pain and struggles, but He loves you so much that He wants to take it away and replace it with peace, comfort, joy, and love.  When we come to Jesus Christ, not only does He take us in and shelter us from the storms of life and the strength to endure them, but He offers forgiveness, a promise of eternity with Him, and unconditional love that heals any broken heart.

The following scripture is a beautiful reminder of this. I know that regardless of what is happening in my life, I am safe, protected and loved.

“Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty. This I declare about the Lord: He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; he is my God, and I trust him.” ~Psalms 91:1-2
