Resurrection Sunday

Matthew 28:5-7 NIV: 5 The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. 6 He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. 7 Then go quickly and tell his disciples: ‘He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him.’ Now I have told you.”

Jesus died on the cross on what we call Good Friday, shedding His blood for our sins. He shed his blood in droplets mixed with sweat while praying in anguish for the cup to pass from Him (Luke 22:44 NIV: And being in anguish, he prayed more earnestly, and his sweat was like drops of blood falling to the ground). He shed His blood while being scourged from the whips on His back (Matthew 27:26b NIV: But he had Jesus flogged, and handed him over to be crucified). He shed His blood from the crown of thorns placed on his head (John 19:2 NIV: The soldiers twisted together a crown of thorns and put it on his head). He shed His blood from the plucking of His beard from His face (Isaiah 50:6a NIV: I offered my back to those who beat me, my cheeks to those who pulled out my beard). He shed His blood from the nails driven into His hands and feet on the cross (John 20:25 NIV: The other disciples therefore said unto him, We have seen the Lord. But he said unto them, Except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my hand into his side, I will not believe). He shed His blood when His side was pierced with a spear after He was already dead (John 19:34 NIV: Instead, one of the soldiers pierced Jesus’ side with a spear, bringing a sudden flow of blood and water).

BUT, on the third day, we now call Resurrection Sunday, He rose from the dead and we can joyfully say, "He is risen! He is risen indeed!"

He went through all of this pain for ALL. Without the shedding of blood, there is no forgiveness of sin, as it says in Hebrews 9:22 NIV: In fact, the law requires that nearly everything be cleansed with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness.

Praise the Name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior! Hallelujah!!!
